A Fresh Start: Married Couple from Mumbai
We're a married couple from Mumbai and we've recently made the bold decision to start a new chapter in our lives by applying for the MM2H visa. This Golden Visa is also known as the Malaysia My Second Home visa. We've both been craving a change of pace and the ever-increasing hustle and bustle of Mumbai, along with its pollution and congestion, was beginning to wear us down.
So, after we'd inherited a sum of money, we decided it was the perfect opportunity to invest in a new life. Malaysia, with its promise of a less hectic, somewhat more stress-free lifestyle, seemed like the perfect place to do it.
This is our Journey
But it was MM2H that was the deciding factor, the main reason that made us opt for Malaysia. Why? Well, because the MM2H visa offers numerous benefits that appealed to us. One of the biggest draws was the fact that we'd have our own property in Malaysia. With the money bequeathed to us, we purchased a home in Kuala Lumpur, a city that struck the perfect balance between urban convenience and a easy-going lifestyle. The best part of this was that our funds originated from outside Malaysia, which meant that, since we're
MM2H-holders, it's not subject to any tax. Quite a welcome bonus.
Moreover, unlike Mumbai, where space is a luxury, Kuala Lumpur offers plenty of affordable housing options with more than enough space to breathe. In fact, to be honest, our new home is located in a lovely, peaceful neighbourhood, far from the noise and chaos we were accustomed to in Mumbai.
What also helped tip the balance for us is the fact that both of us are qualified teachers. We've found that the job market in Malaysia is quite favourable for individuals with our skills. English is widely spoken here and there's solid demand for qualified teachers in international schools. This gives us the confidence that we'll be able to find work swiftly, allowing us to build a comfortable life for ourselves whilst enjoying all that Malaysia has to offer.
Additionally, Malaysia's diverse culture is another significant factor that attracted us. As Indians, we appreciate Malaysia's rich, multicultural fabric, which includes a substantial Indian community, many of which expats. This means we'll have access to familiar foods, cultural festivals
and a sense of belonging, even whilst living in a different country. The presence of Indian temples and Indian tv channels centres further adds to our comfort, making it easier for us to transition to our new life. And of course, India and Malaysia are not too distant anyway, especially when you factor in the decent number of flights to and fro each day..
Another reason we chose Malaysia is the environment. Coming from Mumbai, where, sadly, pollution and heavy traffic are everyday realities, we were thrilled at the prospect of clean air, open spaces and less congested roads. Sure, KL has its gridlocks, but we mostly travel by public transport, which has turned out to be am effective and cheap way to avoid the jams. Meanwhile, Malaysia's natural beauty, with its verdant greenery, highlands and stunning beaches, offers a stark contrast to the urban jungle we've left behind. Right now, we're seriously looking forward to exploring the country's many natural attractions, from its national parks to its idyllic islands.
Monetary Boost
Furthermore, the cost of living in Malaysia is lower than in Mumbai, allowing us to enjoy a higher standard of living. From affordable, yet spacious housing to reasonably priced world-class healthcare and education, Malaysia offers awesome value for money, which is essential for a couple like us starting a new life. Going forward, we're excited about the prospect of living like expats in Malaysia, experiencing new cultures and enjoying an expat quality of life.
To us, it's clear that the MM2H visa has opened up a world of possibilities. It's enabled us to escape the hectic pace of life in Mumbai and start anew in a country that offers both comfort, convenience and adventure too. We're eager to see what the future holds for us in Malaysia and, yes, we're quite thankful for MM2H, for making this dream a reality.
